IPL Vascular Treatments
Thread veins occur when the vein dilates and become large enough to be
visible through the skin. They are classified according to their appearance
as linear, branching or spider telangiectasia.
Caci intense pulsed light (IPL) system is used to treat these small
superficial red (thread) veins which may appear anywhere on the body,
but most commonly on the face and legs.
The light energy emitted from the vascular lamp targets the hemoglobin
found in the blood of superficial thread veins close to the surface of
the skin. This heats up the hemoglobin, the heat then diffuses outwards
either destroying the cells that make up the blood vessel wall or clotting
the blood to stop the flow so that the individual vessels die. These
dead cells are removed by the body in the normal way.
Although IPL treatment may seem expensive, one must bear in mind the
enormous acquisition and maintenance costs of the IPL devices.
